Angola, NY…Internationally known mountaineer and outdoorsman, Chris Bombardier, will appear this Saturday, October 21, 2023 at Cradle Beach Camp as part of the WNY BloodCare Foundation Fallfest & Education Day. Mr. Bombardier is the keynote speaker and will appear at 9:45 am. WNY BloodCare is a NYS non-profit that provides life-long comprehensive care to persons with bleeding and clotting disorders.

Saturday’s event offers patients and families with bleeding disorders the opportunity to hear Bombardier’s inspiring story, learn more about the latest treatments in managing their bleeding disorder from Hematologist Beverly Schaefer, MD, and engage in family fun activities in Cradle Beach’s natural environment on Lake Erie.

Chris Bombardier has a severe form of hemophilia. After receiving his bachelor’s degree in biology, he set off on his journey to become the first person with hemophilia to climb the Seven Summits, the highest peak on each of the seven continents. Throughout his adventure, Chris raised awareness and money for the international hemophilia nonprofit Save One Life that serves individuals with bleeding disorders in developing countries. At that time, Chris worked at GutMonkey, an experienced-based education company that utilizes adventure to impact those living with chronic medical conditions. Bombardier is currently the Executive Director of Save One Life and is focusing on growing and developing the five programs offered through the organization, including a clotting factor donation program that helps provide access to care for individuals in developing countries with no access.

Chris is the subject of a documentary, Bombardier Blood, which was screened in NYC in April of 2019. Bombardier Blood was produced in part by Alex Borstein, two-time Emy-Award winner actress for her work on “The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel” and “Family Guy”. Borstein and her daughter have a mild form of hemophilia, which affects other members of her family. She is an advocate for the hemophilia community and women with bleeding disorders. WNY BloodCare’s S.H.E. Clinic (Specialized Hemophilia Experts) diagnoses and treats girls and women with bleeding disorders that often go undiagnosed.
