More than Strong Fundraiser Raises $11,000 for Windsong Cares Foundation

During Breast Cancer Awareness month, it is more than fitting to pay tribute to all those who have fought the disease with strength and grace.  Jolene Wilson and her mother, Lynn Hansen, have been working tirelessly since they were diagnosed and treated for breast cancer within weeks of one another earlier this year. They have become staunch supporters of their fellow sister warriors, valiantly spearheading fundraising efforts that have included a bottle and can fundraising drive that raised thousands of dollars to supplement the TLC Totes (funded by Windsong radiologists) distributed by the Breast Cancer Network. More recently they successfully ran the More than Strong Fundraiser, which took place on Oct 17th at the Hamburg Moose Lodge. This fundraiser was attended by hundreds of supportive friends and family members who purchased chicken dinners and raffle tickets. “We were humbled by the support we received from our Hamburg community,” said Jolene Wilson, event organizer.

Jolene and her mom, Lynn were thrilled to be able to present a check for $11,000 to the Windsong Cares Foundation on Wednesday, October 29, 2020, to Windsong’s President, Dr. Thomas Summers, at the Windsong location at 4855 Camp Road in Hamburg.

“Windsong Cares Foundation is amazed at the efforts of Jolene and Lynn, who have joined us in our efforts to reduce the mortality from cancer in our WNY region,” said Dr. Thomas Summers, President of the Foundation.

The Windsong Cares Foundation was established in 2019 to help create a healthier community with our donors. Proceeds from the fundraiser will help Windsong Cares to improve access and education around cancer prevention, cancer screening, and cancer research.
