Parents are constantly seeking a cure for boredom, and a new exhibit coming to Explore & More – The Ralph C. Wilson, Jr. Children’s Museum may be just what the doctor ordered. Science + You, a groundbreaking interactive children’s exhibit highlighting the role of science in promoting health and wellness, will be the first play space in the museum’s new Temporary Exhibit Gallery this fall.  

Kiddos will enter a child-sized laboratory to explore how science affects health and wellness. Through hands-on, interactive equipment, processes, and technology, Science + You demonstrates the role science plays in keeping the body healthy. Children can explore a Play Kitchen to learn about food groups and healthy eating options, use machines that separate and stir different materials, and peek inside a microscope to view fabrics, natural objects, insects, plant parts, and more.  

Science + You is scheduled to open at Explore & More on September 26, 2026, as part of the Association of Children’s Museums’ Worldwide Day of Play celebrations, and will run through January 9, 2027. All activities and demonstrations are included with museum admission.  

The exhibit was created by Kohl Children’s Museum of Greater Chicago in Glenview, Illinois, in collaboration with scientists from Abbott Laboratories. Since its debut in 2011, the exhibit has traveled to museums in Washington, D.C., San Francisco, Germany, and Brazil. 

Science + You draws on and supports the US National Science Standards for Young Children; the National Association for the Education of Young Children’s Program Standards; 21st Century Learning Skills; and the National Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM) Standards.
