The Gow School for Children Who Learn Differently
by Susan Bianchi
The Gow School is proud of its 100-year history of global educational excellence for students with dyslexia, dysgraphia, dyscalculia, ADHD, language-based learning differences, and difficulties with executive function. Students from around the world come to Gow to participate and benefit from boarding and day schools for grades 5 through 12, as well as a 5-week summer program for ages 8 to 16.
The Gow School’s unique curriculum enables students to benefit from subjects like reading, writing, mathematics, robotics, engineering, ceramics, videography, graphic design, and music. The school’s research-based reading remediation program, Reconstructive Language, focuses on multisensory learning and structured literacy to help students develop the cognitive skills they need to succeed. Small class sizes and personalized instruction enable faculty to understand each student’s unique learning style, fostering their confidence and academic progress.
We know that many of Gow’s students come to us after years of frustration with traditional schools. Suddenly, surrounded by other students with similar experiences and supportive professionals, families tell us that this is the first time their child has felt truly successful in school.
Gow’s School Summer Program (GSSP) is a 5-week day or overnight camp experience for students ages 8-16 who are facing challenges in school, regardless of whether they have a specific learning diagnosis. The program includes core academic courses and a range of creative recreational activities led by staff committed to fostering an inclusive community for all students. The result is improved academic performance and enhanced confidence.
